Community Health Trust - Sierra Leone
About The Community Health Trust

Community Health Trust (CHT) is working to make basic healthcare and health support available to remote villages in Sierra Leone.

Our first village; Petifu in the Yonibana district is nearing completion and we would like to use the business model and findings to roll out a programme to assist more of the remote villages that have inadequate facilities and services.

CHT work with the community to make the Health Centre building that is then owned by, and the responsibility of, the village and managed by the District Medical Officer. The Sierra Leone Government are making huge efforts to improve the countries health care provision, but with just 1 health care provider per 18000 of population it is still a major problem in the rural areas.

The benefits of having a well made and well maintained Health Centre are many, not just to have somewhere safe and clean to treat and birth, but with the outside assistance that CHT secures on the strength of the programme. Such as free family planning clinics, Well Woman clinics, free HIV/Aids testing and education and the World Food Programme feeding the malnourished on a regular basis.

CHT believe in a corruption free Sierra Leone, with true accounting visibility and reporting.

Only through the villagers work and commitment do they benefit from the programme.
